Milk and Osteoporosis

"Our need for calcium never stops"

What is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become more fragile and susceptible to fracture. This disease causes tremendous pain and disability to a large number of sufferers.

It is the most common bone condition in the world. More and more people - men and women alike - are suffering from this disease which can prove both debilitating and painful.

Healthy bones need a well-balanced diet, incorporating minerals and vitamins from different food groups. You especially need to ensure that your diet is rich in calcium. The best sources of calcium are milk and dairy products such as milk, cheese and yoghurt which are readily absorbed by the body and give bones their strength and play an important structural role in the development and maintenance of bone tissue.

The importance of milk and dairy products and an adequate supply of calcium is needed to optimise peak bone mass, particularly important when bones are growing during childhood and teenage years in order to protect against osteoporosis later in life.
